Strategy
Engineers are basic units that produce Energy. Energy is primarily used to buy drones and other resource gathering units. Engineers can be produced by alternative means, such as the Cauterizer, the Sentinel, and the Hellhound.
During the early game, purchasing a third Engineer may be a good idea if there are expensive units available in the Randomized Set, so that you can buy three drones per turn. However, a number of early aggression cards might punish such a play. A third or fourth engineer may be a good idea if the set features alternative economic options such as Vivid Drone, Centrifuge, or the other Drone varieties.
Engineers also form a base-line for basic non-color resource blocking of 2 Gold for 1 Health. Buying Engineers ahead of expected attacks can help to optimize your defense and save your other absorbing Blockers. However, you should not neglect mounting a suitable offense by buying too many Engineers. It may be better to purchase other cheap blockers, such as Forcefield.
